A LOCALS GUIDE TO VENICE BEACH

A LOCALS GUIDE TO VENICE BEACH

Best Shops

Christy Dawn: You know those sun-kissed bohemian beauties with long, tousled hair and flawless skin who just roll out of bed looking perfect? This is the brand they all wear. Vintage-inspired and made in L.A., this line of flowy (and often floral) dresses was established by former model and entrepreneur Christy Dawn.

Bruno’s Dog and Cat Boutique: Our #DogsofParachute are big fans of this local store fully stocked with premium, trusted pet products. They offer toys, medicine, apparel and more. Why wouldn’t you get your pooch a fashionable dog poncho.

Venice Vintage Paradise: Their superbly curated mix of boho chic furniture and decor rivals the best flea markets in town. Wall hangings, mid-century chairs, sheepskins, chandeliers, oh my! Bonus: They have outposts on both Lincoln and Abbot Kinney.

Best Eats

Felix: Using only ingredients from California family farms, this new hot spot on Abbot Kinney is rooted in the culinary traditions of Italy. The heavenly pasta is made in front of your eyes, but don’t lose sight of its stunning decor – including lush wallpaper and a mix of beautiful wood touches.

Gjusta: Despite the mad rush to find a seat, this neighborhood bakery and deli – opened by the famed Gjelina owners – is worth the hustle and bustle. After taking a number at the counter, wait patiently to order a delicious Bialy Egg Sandwich.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams: Fun fact: Ice cream always tastes better in bed…or at least next to a Bedding business. Jeni’s is our next door neighbor here in Venice and never disappoints with flavors like Brambleberry Crisp and Lemon Buttermilk Frozen Yogurt.

Clutch: Dry-rubbed BBQ, tasty margaritas and outdoor dining keeps people coming back to this roadhouse time after time. Stop by during happy hour for the smoked wings.

CAVA: Located just a skip from our Rose Avenue headquarters, this fast casual Mediterranean cafe serves fresh and delicious fare perfect for a healthy, pick-me-up lunch. Think grain bowls, falafel, all natural dips and spreads. Bonus: They promote and organize urban gardening in each of their communities.

Barrique: Michelin awarded chef Antonio Muré brings authentic and showstopping Italian cuisine to this romantic Venice bungalow. Ask ahead for a rooftop table with a view to wow your date (you’re welcome).

Best Drinks

Hotel Erwin: For those wanting something stronger, the High Rooftop Lounge serves up cocktails with views of the entire town. It’s my secret go-to for friends in town who are new to the neighborhood because it’s one of the few places where you can get a bird’s eye view of everything around.

The Lincoln: A beautiful drinking den with a nicely edited list of craft spirits, draught beer and wine. This recent addition to the neighborhood offers excellent cocktails.

Best Workouts

Barry’s Bootcamp: Define your muscles with a balance of cardio and strength training (in an atmosphere that feels more nightclub than actual bootcamp).

Paddle Boarding: Living in Southern California, I’ve always preferred outdoor to indoor workouts. Paddle boarding is the best of both worlds – the beautiful waters almost make me forget the intense burn.

Pilates Platinum: Offering group reformer classes for the price of a mat class, Pilates Platinum uses the revolutionary Megaformer machine to give you mega-fast results in 55 minutes.

Best Things to Do

Mosaic Tile House: Take a tour of this bohemian delight adorned with colorful tile, household objects, dolls and tools. The owners welcome curious onlookers in for daily tours.

Venice Skatepark: Drop in on the impressive skate scene right off the Venice Boardwalk. I guarantee you will be in awe of not only the high flying skaters, but the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean only fifty yards away.

Best Hidden Gem

The Parachute Hotel: Located above the Store on Rose Avenue, The Parachute Hotel has everything you need to live like a local in Venice Beach. This one-of-a-kind destination is outfitted with Parachute’s Bedding and Bath essentials and available for industry events and salons. See you soon…
